Þes is þone forma forecwide of Genesis, from Ælfrices Munucan āwendunge of Genesis. Ac þes is mīn stæfsprǣċ, swā þæt Ælfrices stæfsprǣċ nis nā ēadiġ tō rǣdan.
1 On anginne ġescōp God heofonan and eorðan.
2 Sēo eorðe sōþlīċe wæs īdel and ǣmtiġ, and þēostra wǣron ofer þǣre neowolnesse brādnesse; and Godes gāst wæs ġeferod ofer wæterum.
3 God cwæþ þā: Ġeweorðe lēoht, and lēoht wearþ ġeworht.
4 God seah þā þæt hit gōd wæs, and hē tōdǣlde þæt lēoht from þǣm þēostrum.
5 And hēt þæt lēoht dæġ and þā þēostru niht : þā wæs ġeworden æfen and morgen ān dæġ.
6 God cwæþ þā æft: Ġeweorðe nū fæstnes tōmiddes þǣm wæterum and tōtwæme þā wæteru from þǣm wæterum.
7 And God ġeworhte þā fæstnesse, from þǣm þe wǣron būfan þǣre fæstnesse: hit wæs þā swā ġedōn.
8 And God hēt þā fæstnesse heofonan and was þā ġeworden æfen and morgen ōðer dæġ.
9 God þā sōþlīċe cwæþ: Bēon ġegaderode þā wæteru þe sind under þǣre heofonan and æteowiġe drȳġnes. Hit was þā swā ġedōn.
10 And God ġecīegde þā drȳgnesse eorðan and þǣre wætera ġegaderunga hē hēt sǣ. And God ġeseah þā þæt hit gōd wæs.
11 And hē cwæþ: Sprytte sēo eorðe growende gǣrs and sǣd wyrcende and æppelbære trēow wæstm wyrcende æfter his cynne, þæs sǣd sīe on him syluum ofer eorðan. Hit wæs þā swā ġedōn.
12 And sēo eorðe forðtēah growende myria and sǣd berende be hire cynne and trēow wæstm wyrcende and ġehwīle sǣd hæbbende æfter his hīwe. God ġeseah þā þæt hit god wæs.
13 And wæs ġeworden æfen and morgen se þrīdda dæġ.
14 God cwæþ þā sōþlīċe: Bēo nū lēoht on þǣre heofonan fæstnesse, and tōdǣlan dæġ and nihte, and bēon tō tacnum and tō tīdum and tō dagum and tō ġearum,
15 And hīe scīnon on þǣre heofenan fæstnesse and ālīhton þā eorðan. Hit wæs þā swā ġeworden.
16 And God ġeworhte twā miċele lēoht, þæt māra leoht tō þæs dæġes lihtinge, and þæt lǣssa leoht tō þǣre nihte lihtinge, and steorran hē ġewohrte.
17 And ġesetteþ hīe on þǣre heofenan, þæt hīe scīnon ofer eorðan,
18 and gīembdon þæs dæġes and þǣre nihte and tō dǣldon lēoht and þēostre. God ġeseah þā þæt hit gōd wæs.
19 And wæs ġeworden æfen and morgen se fēorða dæġ.
20 God cwæþ ēac swilċe: Tēon nū þā wæteru forþ swimmende cynn cucu on lyfte and flēogende cynn ofer eorðan under þǣre heofonan fæstnesse!
21 And God ġescēop þā þā miċlan hwælas and eall libbende fisccynn and styrigendliċe, þe þā wæteru tugon forþ on heora hīwum, and eall flēogende cynn æfter heora cynne. God ġeseah þā þæt hit gōd wæs.
22 And bletsode hīe, þus cweðende: Weaxaþ and bēoþ ġemaniġfealde, and ġefyllaþ þǣre sǣ wæteru, and þā fugelas bēon ġemaniġfealde ofer eorðan.
23 And þā wæs ġeworden æfen and morgen se fīfta dæġ.
24 God cwæþ ēac swilċe: Lǣde sēo eorðe forþ cucu nīetenu on heora cynne and crēopende cynn and dēor æfter heora hīwum. Hit wæs þā swā ġedōn.
25 And God þā ġeworhte þǣre eorðan dēor æfter heora hīwum and þā nīetenu and eall crēopende cynn on heora cynne. God ġeseah þā þæt hit gōd wæs.
26 And cwæþ: Wuton wyrcan mann tō ānliċnesse and tō ūre ġelīċnesse, and hē sīe ofer þā fiscas and ofer þā fugelas and ofer þā dēor and ofer ealle ġesceafta and ofer ealle crēopende, þe styriaþ on eorðan.
27 God ġescēop þā mann tō his ānliċnesse, to Godes ānliċnesse hē ġescēop hine ; werhādes and wifhādes hē ġescēop hīe.
28 And God hīe bletsode, and cwæþ : Weaxaþ and beōþ ġemaniġfeade and ġefyllaþ þā eorðan and ġewieldaþ hīe, and habbaþ on ēowerum ġewielde þǣre sǣ fiscas and þǣre lyfte fugelas and ealle nīetenu, þe styriaþ ofer eorðan.
29 God cwæþ þā : Efne iċ forgiefe ēow eall ġǣrs and wyrta sǣd berende ofer eorðan and ealle trēowa, þā þe habbaþ sǣd on him selfum heora āgenes cynnes, þæt hīe bēon ēow tō mete,
30 And eallum nīetenum and eallum fugelcynne and eallum þǣm þe styriaþ on eorðan, on þǣm þe is libbende līf, þæt hīe hæbbon him tō ġereordienne. Hit wæs þā swā ġedōn.
31 And God ġeseah ealle þā þing þe hē ġeworhte and hīe wǣron swīðe gōde. Wæs þā ġeworden æfen and morgen se sixta dæġ.
